KidsCore is a children’s music and worship curriculum for churches and for families.
This curriculum features biblical devotions, musical principles, activities, and resources – all centered around wonderful songs of the faith. We want to equip children to become active and informed worshipers of Jesus Christ. Our church (First Baptist Church of Lindale, TX) has been using and developing the idea of KidsCore for more than a decade, and we’re excited to share it with you. Here are just a few of the benefits we’ve found along the way:
- KidsCore kids… are eager participants in gathered worship.
Most of our songs are songs that are sung corporate worship services. This way, we emphasize performance less and congregational participation more. When children learn these songs as “KidsCore songs” – or songs that are meant for them to sing – they also become excited to sing them together with the church in worship. It’s so rewarding to see kids perk up during worship gatherings whenever we sing a song that they know. - KidsCore kids… know songs worth singing.
We celebrate songs that we think will stand the test of time. We use older timeless hymns like “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “Nothing but the Blood,” or “Hallelujah! What a Savior” – and we also use newer songs like “In Christ Alone,” “His Mercy Is More,” or “Christ Is Mine Forevermore.” We also have some simple Scripture songs from ministries like Seeds Family Worship and some seasonal songs for use at Christmas or Easter. We make these available on a song-by-song basis, so rather than committing to a predetermined collection each year, you have the ability to build your own curriculum and choose only the songs you want to use. - KidsCore kids… are growing in the word of God.
We are careful to select songs that are rich with scripture. And it’s this biblical content that inspires our devotion topics. Our lessons contain exegetically sound teaching – but also make certain that it is accessible for children. Along the way, we teach principles of worship theology, learning truth from Scripture about who God is and what He has done – and learning how to respond to that truth in worship. - Finally, KidsCore kids… are developing musical skills for use in worship.
The music principles we emphasize serve the children as worshiping musicians. Our arrangements and lessons are written with volunteer musicians in mind, and our printed music resources are consistent with each song’s commercial recording.
